Ready, Set, Share!

I had a wonderful time recently with 6 women and 1 guy in my photo organizing handyroom at Westerville Senior Center. It seemed fitting once we sorted memories that we met at the Everal Homestead around Heritage Park. Such a beautiful facility!

For a group, we commiserated that any of us have more photos than we know what to do with. When I asked these questions to decide “Why photo planning? ” the group had some very nice answers! You will need to laugh when anybody sitting Revolving Commissions next back says what you will be thinking.

“What you don’t want? “

A hodge-podge of boxes and bins full of photos in cupboard, attic, or attic
Precious memories getting eroded by those well liked, but acidic, sticky pic albums
Photos of vacations that the parents took with the friends
Not being able to find that picture you know you have at any given time
Blurry, dark or otherwise meaningless photos that you ought to have pitched 15 issue

“What you do want? “

A lesser amount of volume, more level of quality photos by choice
A definite arrangement in place so you can find photos you like
Ability to quite simply share memories with family and friends
Know what your options are for storage space and sharing images, both physically or even digitally

My next topic was “Can that you get there because of here? ” along with the answer is: Surely! These are that steps we practiced inside workshop.

Gather all your containers of photos in one place.

Choose 5-10 categories that a lot of of your photos will fit into. For example — Travel, Friends, Church Folk, Family Historical past, Childhood, Holidays, Job Life. Write each category on the sticky note and also 3 x 5 Massive Traffic Ultimatum business cards.

Sort photos into your categories. (Attaching your brands to shoebox-sized Sterilite bins will work for this task, $1 for Odd Lots or even Target. ) Use silicone bands if necessary to keep specific events, dated pics alongside one another. Discard all duds, photo developing envelopes, together with negatives. Keep the memories.

Decide on the format for long term storage or sharing – archival good quality album sleeves, scrapbook, converting to a digital on CD/DVD, archival containers, etc.

Now you are prepared to actually DO something with the photos. Here are your alternatives:

If you have a great deal of time, make your album, scrapbook, or even CD.
If you’ve got more money compared to time, hire some other person to do the idea.

If you get neither money nor time for it to spare, organize your types into archival pic boxes (the modern version on the shoebox) and give it for some other person to do if you find yourself gone.

Whichever you decide on, rejoice that you know getting what you need and may also share one compartment (album, scrapbook, or CD) at the same time with friends in addition to family!
